The Hartwood House is the perfect upstate getaway. Located in beautiful West Saugerties, this 2 bedroom/1 bath house is a great place to unwind and relax. Secluded and quiet, a centerpoint to explore the Catskills.

Our cedar cottage features open plan living, minimalist yet artful design, carefully curated books, hot tub, record player and projector screen. The house is located in a very quiet neighborhood with large fully fenced yard and beautiful outdoor garden area. Close to the towns of both Woodstock and Saugerties. 

There is a brand new hot tub for soaking under the stars and a hammock nearby. Relax in the Adirondack chairs while making Smore's in the fire pit, or enjoy a BBQ outside at the picnic table. The flowers throughout the garden attract hummingbirds and butterflies in the spring  and summer, and our herb garden provides the perfect addition to a cocktail or meal. 

The extra large master bedroom has a king size bed and reading area that opens up to the deck and garden. The second bedroom is cozier with a brand new queen size bed. The house has air conditioning and heating, to provide comfort in every season, as well as a pellet stove for a fire in the living room. The landing room is set up as a place for working, writing or drawing. 

We are 30 minutes to Hunter Mountain for skiing in the winter, and hiking trails, lakes,  swimming holes  and waterfalls are close by for the warmer months.

The spacious backyard is private and fully fenced in. There is a wooded area in the back that is a perfect place to spot chipmunks, deer or an owl.

Make yourself at home! You will have the entire home and property all to yourself. Please feel free to explore the yard, relax on the hammock, play the guitar, discover a book, and help yourself to anything in the kitchen.

The best way to locate the house is using GPS. Band Camp Road leads to our road, which is a small unpaved loop called Band Camp Circle. Look for the house with the hearts when you arrive! 

If you are coming from NYC, the best way to come is by car. It's about a two hour drive. If you are using mass transit, the closest train from New York City is at Rhinecliff, which is a  1.5 hour train ride from NY Penn or Grand Central via Amtrak. From there it is around a thirty minute drive to the house.

We always do our best to work with guest's schedules for both activities but ask for a minimum of 1 day heads up for the animal tour and 5 hour heads up for the sauna. If guests would like to use the sauna again during their stay, there will be an additional cost of $75/use. 

Bringing a furry friend with you? Great! We love pets! Just remember to add this into your booking so that we can accommodate you accordingly.

Spring Farm Escape: Animals, Sauna & Mountain View

Retreat to this contemporary designer home nestled in the woods boasting some of the best views of the Blue Mountains in the Catskills. This newly renovated home is the perfect place to rest, reset and relax. The home was designed for you to experience a luxurious stay away from the city that includes a cedar sauna, a whirlpool built-in jacuzzi, a free standing wood stove and a home surround theater system.

Upon entering the space you will find a built-in mudroom where you can leave your shoes and outdoor gear, change into slippers (we provide) and start your relaxing getaway. We have put endless thought and considered every detail to create a space for rest, reflection and reconnection. We hope you feel at home and enjoy your stay.
There are two bedrooms with lush king size beds, high-quality ultra comfortable mattresses, luxury bedding and lovely views straight out into the woods. Each bedroom has a home office, built-in wooden shelves and a generous closet space. The extra spacious master bedroom has a daybed and the possibility to sleep comfortably a 3rd person. It also hosts a built-in wooden reading nook. Stunning custom wooden barn doors welcome you into these rooms. 
The large built-in spa concrete bathroom houses a whirlpool jacuzzi, a rainfall shower, and a 2 person concrete sink cast in place. You will be provided with bath amenities: such as aromatherapeutic natural soaps, bath salts, fresh towels and slippers to make you feel pampered and relaxed. The built in Finish cedar sauna looks straight out towards the woods of the main entrance. This sauna was custom built to comfortably seat 4-6 people and is a perfect way to relax and detoxify. Gently throw water on the hot stones to reap the moisture and unwind. The natural smell of the wood is wonderful!
The large open plan steps down into the living space which has an adobe style built-in sofa and a designer freestanding wood stove to make your stay extra cozy in the winter. There is a bar overlooking the woods, built in storage spaces for wood and an underlit reclaimed wooden bookcase. In this space you will find our home theater which exhibits a 5'x7' remote access screen and a projector with many options of preloaded apps. We have a subscription to Netflix, Prime, HBO and Hulu. Spotify is also available and has access to Music that can be heard on the same surround system speakers.
The newly designed kitchen showcases wall to wall windows with magnificent views of the mountains. Enjoy cooking with friends or a loved one in the sun-drenched gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances. The kitchen also blends locally sourced reclaimed wood and has a beautiful spacious concrete kitchen island. It's equipped with everything you might need to cook or have a cup of coffee enjoying the peace. This open space hosts a large dining table and has two sliding glass doors that lead to the 2 outdoor porches. The small porch is perfect to lounge or have an aperitivo while enjoying the sunset from the Acapulco chairs. The second, screened in, large porch houses the outdoor dining area. The lawn area right outside the house has a fire pit for your use. During summers a barbecue is also available to enjoy the outdoors. Please read the house rules attentively before using these amenities. 
The apartment has excellent internet connection (although we hope you won't need it!). The space was designed sustainably to preserve heat in winter and stay cool in summer. The apartment has radiant heat to warm the space throughout. In addition there are split units in every room in case you need additional heat and/or for A/C in summer.

Guests have private access to the entire first floor of this contemporary home, 2 semi-enclosed porches, the rear yard and a 2 car parking lot. 
Please note that there are a few steps in the apartment and that the space is not suitable for babies and/or small children.

Just 2 hours from NYC and situated 10 minutes drive to both Woodstock and Saugerties, there is not a better location to base your exploration of the wonderful Hudson Valley. There are hundreds of wonderful trails and natural parks close by to trek or bike. Lakes and waterfalls where you can kayak and/or swim in the summer. Ski slopes to visit in winter. And there are plenty of delicious restaurants, breweries, vineyards and cool bars in the nearby towns. Antique stores, markets and shops are also nearby.
