Savannah’s economy had a growth spurt two years ago and is continuing to grow, but at a steadier pace. What makes Savannah’s economy so strong? Business services, port activity, and tourism. Savannah was one of the cities that was able to quickly bounce back from the recession and maintained a healthy economy.
There are several industries that have contributed to Savannah’s strong economy: healthcare, operating port services, military, manufacturing, and distribution. There is a large community of tech-based startups and entrepreneurs.
Finally, let’s get to the tourism industry. In 2015, Savannah welcomed 13.7 million visitors, who enjoy Savannah's old historical charm. The houses have Antebellum architecture and there are many historical sites from the Revolutionary and Civil War. An Airbnb investment property could be a very effective rental strategy in this city. The good news is, Savannah received one of the highest scores on cities with the least Airbnb legal issues. Savannah passed an amendment which recognized short-term rentals, which has made Airbnb hosting and investing easier.
